Expert Option review for Kenyan traders

Expert Option asks for a minimum deposit of $10 and advertises payouts up to 95% on fixed-time trades, which puts it in line with several better-known platforms available to Kenyan traders. The practical questions are how you fund an account from Kenya, what the platform offers, and where the broker stands on regulation and dispute handling.

Figures checked 19.10.2026

Minimum deposit, trade size and payouts

Expert Option lists a minimum deposit of $10, which is low enough to test the platform without committing much money. The minimum trade size is $1, so a first deposit can be spread across a number of small trades rather than spent in one go.

Advertised payouts reach a maximum of 95%. That is the figure the broker publishes, and it sits in the same range as IQ Option and Olymp Trade, both of which also quote 95%. It is higher than Stockity's 90% and lower than Quotex's 98%.

For a trader in Kenya, the $10 entry point matters less than the cost of moving money. A small deposit can be partly eaten by payment-partner fees, so the effective cost of starting is usually more than the headline minimum. The $1 minimum trade, however, means you can keep individual positions small while you learn the platform.

Platforms and how you trade

Expert Option runs its own ExpertOption platform, available on Android, iOS and the web. There is no MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5 integration, so if you already use MT4 or MT5 elsewhere, you would be starting fresh here.

The web platform is the simplest route for a Kenyan trader on a laptop, while the Android and iOS apps cover phone-based trading. The broker does not publish a desktop application beyond the browser version.

Compared with the wider market, the platform choice is narrower. Deriv, for example, offers MT5 and TradingView alongside its own apps, and Pocket Option adds MT4 and MT5. Expert Option keeps to its own software, which means the experience is consistent but also closed.

Funding an Expert Option account from Kenya

Kenyan traders typically fund accounts through M-Pesa, bank transfer, Visa or Mastercard, or USDT. Expert Option does not publish a full list of payment routes for Kenya, so what is actually available at checkout may vary by account and by payment partner.

M-Pesa is the most common route in Kenya, usually processed through a payment partner rather than the broker directly. That means the money goes through an intermediary, which can add fees and delay. Bank transfer through PesaLink or a standard transfer is another option, and cards are subject to your bank's international transaction limit.

USDT, usually on TRC-20, is often the fastest fallback when a card is declined. Before depositing, check what the payment screen actually offers for your account, and treat any fee shown at the payment stage as part of your real deposit cost.

Licensing and what it means in Kenya

Expert Option is a member of the Financial Commission, an external dispute-resolution body. That is the only licence or membership we hold on record for the broker. The Financial Commission is not a government regulator, and membership does not carry the same weight as a licence from a national authority.

Kenya's Capital Markets Authority licenses online forex brokers and money managers, but it does not license fixed-time trading. That means no broker offering binary-style fixed-time trades is CMA-licensed for that activity, and Expert Option is not an exception.

Other brokers on our list show a similar pattern. Pocket Option holds a licence from MISA in Mwali but has been flagged in FCA, CONSOB and CFTC warnings. Quotex and Exnova show no licence in any register we read. Olymp Trade holds a VFSC registration and Financial Commission membership. In this part of the market, a Financial Commission membership is common, but it is not the same as being regulated in Kenya.

How Expert Option compares with alternatives

On the basic numbers, Expert Option is mid-table. Its $10 minimum deposit matches IQ Option, Olymp Trade, Binomo and Exnova, and undercuts BinaryCent's $250. Its 95% maximum payout beats Stockity and Binomo at 90%, matches IQ Option and Olymp Trade, and trails Quotex at 98%.

The platform gap is more visible. Expert Option offers only its own app and web platform, while Deriv, Pocket Option and even BinaryCent give access to MetaTrader or TradingView. If you want charting depth or automated trading, that gap matters.

For a Kenyan trader who wants a simple fixed-time platform with a low entry point, Expert Option is a workable option. For one who wants a wider platform ecosystem or a broker with a national regulator's licence, the comparison points elsewhere. The choice depends on what you are actually going to trade and how much platform flexibility you need.
